Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. The New Evolution

Of late, the country has seen sales of luxury cars going up, and it has inspired many companies to come up with their luxury segment products. Japanese car maker Mitsubishi is set to come up with its car Lancer Evolution X in India. To be made at the company's Chennai facility, it is expected to be launched in the first half of 2009. The car is expected to compete with Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Volkswagen Passat, Nissan Teana and Audi A4 in the Indian market.

Lancer Evolution was first previewed in 2007. The car was introduced by Mitsubishi for the 2008 model year, continuing the nameplate's tradition of high performance in a small-displacement four-passenger sedan.

Both trim levels feature the new all-aluminum 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder MIVEC4 motor producing 295 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque and Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) drive system.

Safety measures include the Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution unibody system to disperse energy in front and side impact collisions and protect the fuel system from rear impact, and front and side impact air bags, plus a driver's knee air bag.
